Traveling to Turku

Flights to Finland

You can fly to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and continue your travel to Turku by train, by bus or by flying. There are flights from some locations (e.g. Stockholm, Gdansk and Riga) to Turku as well.

There are some flights that go from Helsinki to Turku as well.

If you are traveling from the Turku Airport: the Airport is outside the city, so you need to take a local bus to get to the city center. Here are the timetables (Line 1, Lentoasema – City Centre).

Cruise Ships and Ferries

Straight ferry connections to Turku leave from Stockholm and Mariehamn. You can travel from Tallinn, Travemünde and St. Petersburg to Helsinki on a ferry as well.

Trains

Train connections from St. Petersburg and Moscow arrive to the Helsinki Central Railway Station.

Traveling from Helsinki to Turku

You can travel to Turku from the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport or Helsinki City Center. Both trains and buses go from the Airport and Helsinki City Center to Turku. The travel time is approx. from 2 to 3 hours, depending on your location of departure.

Trains from the Airport

The trains leave at least once in an hour.
You can buy the ticket in advance or at the Airport.

The train goes from the Airport to Pasila or Tikkurila, where you need to transfer to a train that continues to Turku. If you have bought a ticket straight from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport to Turku, the same ticket is valid in both trains.

Trains from the Helsinki Central Railway Station

The trains leave at least once in an hour. You can buy the ticket in advance or from the Helsinki Central Railway Station.

When traveling from the Helsinki Railway Station, the train goes straight to Turku without transfers.

Buses

The buses leave every hour or so.  At the Airport the buses leave from a platform outside Terminal 2, and in the Helsinki City Center from Kamppi Bus Station under the shopping centre Kamppi.

You can buy the ticket in advance from here or pay it to the driver.

If you buy the ticket online, remember to check the point of departure – if you depart from the Airport, choose Helsinki T2 as you point of departure. If you depart from the City Centre, choose Helsinki.
