How to get to Reykjavík
Those who saw the Reykjavík presentation in Umeå will remember the different options by boat ;-) Those can still be explored, but as the eruption in Eyjafjallajökull has finished, for now, a flight might be easier...
There are 3 flight companies that fly to Iceland, in October:
- Icelandair www.icelandair.com operates from all the Nordic capitals (Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki) as well as from London, Manchester, Glascow, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris.
- Iceland Express www.icelandexpress.com operates from Copenhagen, London Gatwick and Stansted, and Berlin.
- SAS www.flysas.com operate flights on some days from Oslo, Norway
All international flights to Iceland arrive at Keflavík International airport, which is 40 minutes drive from the city centre of Reykjavík. A flybus is connected to all flights www.flybus.is. It takes you to the Reykjavik bus terminal and those with Flybus Plus ticket can there board smaller buses that take you to your hotel. The price of a one way Flybus Plus ticket is now ISK 2.500
You can also opt for a taxi from the airport and if there are four of you travelling together the price per person is aprox ISK 3.000.
Please note!
The opening of the encounter is at 18.30 h on Oct 8th at the Reykjavik City Theatre. If you want to be there you have to take a flight that arrives at the latest at 16.00 h. Information on how to get from bus terminal / hotels and to the theatre will be provided at a later point.
Where to live
keðjaReykjavik has reserved a selection of hotelrooms for participants. Information on the hotels, how to book a room and deadline for booking will be posted on the keðja website after registration is finished. Most hotels are in the city centre.
Locations for encounter activities
keðjaReykjavik starts at Reykjavik City Theatre on Friday Oct 8th. During Saturday and Sunday the encounter will take place in the city centre, in various locations – all in walking distance. Check this photo-map showing you the centre and the two locations furthest apart, SL venue Tjarnarbío and Iceland Academy of the Arts. A more detailed map will be provided later.
