"Reach Out! Content or Form?"
About keðjaReykjavik
The main emphasis at keðjaReykjavík will be placed on the artistic programme, together with various events aimed to show you Icelandic nature, energy and city life, from a different perspective.
In a few well defined seminar sessions we aim to explore, question and celebrate the art of dance and its relationship to other art forms, its place in a “world of interdisciplinarity” and its role in community.
We will question where dance is heading, its meaning and purpose, reminding ourselves of the initial aims of keðja; asking: HAVE WE “strengthened the position of contemporary dance in our region”?
The call for further strength comes from an art which has been seen by some, and perhaps by itself, as marginal, in need to justify its existence. Has the emphasis on the art FORM overshadowed that of the CONTENT? Yet at the same time, have we not seen our artists step “outside of the form” into a new context, reaching new audiences?
How do we proceed and WHICH is the position we want to strengthen?
The encounter is for people working not only in dance but also in the performing arts as such as well as others with an interest in discussing issues on the merging of the art forms.
We hope to encourage a flow between the artistic events and seminar sessions, and that you use the mingling, lunchtime and party sessions to continue the discussion and bring up truths, fears, longings and brilliant ideas.

During the past keðja years the Icelandic team has received numerous requests to provide a nature experience at keðjaReykjavik. This we have decided to honour.
In keðjaReykjavik we will therefore put emphasis on the artistic programme as well as providing you with opportunities to enjoy Icelandic nature and Reykjavik city life. We have organised events and trips specially designed for you.
